Sustainability

With our deep roots in the Pacific Northwest, SRO has always had a strong connection to the ecosystems that surround our properties. As we look toward the future of our company and its role in the world, environmental stewardship is a high priority.

The impact of SRO’s sustainability initiatives shows from the rooftops of our largest office towers, where we generate solar power, to the organic landscape care of our smallest properties. We understand that each property requires a customized approach, from a toolkit of environmental best practices, to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment for our tenants and communities.

SRO aspires to be among the leaders of landlords focused on sustainability – balancing civic contribution, economic returns, and patience.”

Towne Ridge Retail

In 2022, SRO completed construction of our Towne Ridge Retail complex in Sandy, UT. This 16,000 SF retail center was designed with a Net Zero philosophy, including mass timber/CLT structural elements, energy efficient tenant buildouts, and rooftop solar panels.

Solar Power Generation

SRO has nearly 3.9 megawatts of installed rooftop and parking canopy solar generation capacity across our Washington and Utah properties, supplying our tenants with clean, renewable power.

  • Redmond Tech Center: 303 kW
  • Towne Ridge Center: 406 kW
  • Towne Ridge Retail: 110 kW
  • Vista Station: 3,072 kW

Symetra Center Reimagining

SRO’s 2024 re-imagining of its Symetra Building lobby and plaza in Bellevue, WA, will provide a showcase for SRO’s approach to sustainability. Working with industry partners, SRO is combining sustainable design approaches, materials recycling and repurposing, and carbon reduction strategies–all targeted towards zero Scope 1 emissions on-site.

The lobby renovation was recently featured in a Daily Journal of Commerce article discussing the strategic focus on sustainability that Turner Construction and SRO have had throughout the project.
