Matt Skager

President

As President of Sterling Realty Organization, Matt Skager oversees all aspects of the company’s business including operations, asset management, finance, and portfolio strategy — working closely with the executive team to guide investment decisions and long-term company growth initiatives. Since joining SRO in 2014 Matt has served in several leadership roles including as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, Chief Operating Officer before being named President in 2026.

Matt also serves on the Board of Directors of SRO and Matthew G. Norton Company.

With nearly two decades of experience in commercial real estate, Matt brings deep expertise in capital markets, investment strategy, underwriting, valuation, leasing and operations to his role. He began his career at KPMG, where he spent 10 years in the Seattle audit practice. Prior to joining SRO, he was Controller at American Life, Inc.

Matt believes lasting success in commercial real estate is built on relationships grounded in respect, fairness and integrity. He approaches every transaction with a long-term perspective, focused on creating value, fostering enduring partnerships and mentoring future industry leaders. He is especially passionate about the “place-making” side of commercial real estate—creating spaces where people work, connect and engage in meaningful ways.

A licensed CPA and Navy veteran, Matt holds undergraduate and graduate accounting degrees from the University of Washington. He is active in the Puget Sound community, serving on several nonprofit boards, including the Bellevue Downtown Association and Friends of the Grand Connection Steering Committee. Matt is a past president of the Kirkland Boys & Girls Club Advisory Board and Juanita Lacrosse Club. He lives in Kirkland with his wife, Cherie, and their two sons, Frank and Charlie.
